Ella | 8 week old beauty Oh my, this little girl made me swoon. So perfectly formed, beautiful skin and big brown eyes. When a baby is 8 weeks old their session can go either of two ways....sometimes they don't want to sleep and can get a little unsettled when touched. I always mention to mums that after the first fortnight post birth we are more likely to get eyes open images as opposed to sleepy and/or posed ones. Ella was just so perfect - we got some lovely happy wide awake images and then she drifted off to sleep allowing me to photograph her sleeping so peacefully. She came into her session asleep but disturbed as her parents and I were chatting. The first thing she did when I went over to say hi to her was to flash me the biggest, brightest most beautiful smile - so I knew we were off to a good start. Babies at 8 weeks of age are generally smiling and they know their mummy and daddy's faces very well and always give them lovely big smiles. I always get the most beautiful interaction images between parent and baby at this age. Parents also tend to be more relaxed when not having to look at the camera, when all they have to do is just love on their baby. We chose to use soft warm brown and peach tonings for Ella's session. We thought it toned perfectly with the teddy, and the blocks which featured in her final image. Mum also told me Ella's middle name was Peach - how gorgeous is that! Mum told me she luuuuved baby feet so we made sure to include goegeous baby feet images and I just love the one of her kissing Ella's toes. Haven't we all done that at some stage? I know I have kissed my baby's feet :) Something I would be less likely to do now as my youngest spends all day in work boots lol. Mum brought in a couple of special items that she wanted to include in Ella's 8 week baby session - A beautiful lace dress that had been bought for her; the cutest little teddy from a friend and beautiful blocks that spell her name. ![]() Ella got tired part way into her session and after a quick little feed she fell asleep and allowed me to get some gorgeous sleepy images of her. I love sleeping baby images - they look so peaceful and content, so little and vulnerable. The very last image of Ella wide awake was a bit of a fluke shot..... she was fast asleep but as she disturbed she lifted her head and looked right at me. Needless to say I was pretty excited and so were mum and dad. ![]() If you would like to book a session with me you can contact me here. Susan, these photographs of our dear wee Ella Peach Watkins are so adorable (I am a bit biased).
