I really love being part of the journey where a woman becomes a mother, where a couple become a family.
To photograph something so incredibly beautiful as the womans body changes as the precious life is being nutured within. To see her baby bump and wonder what the little girl inside will look like and who she will take after.
Carly and I first met at her maternity session. It was the very beginning of spring and all the blossoms were starting to appear. We went to a gorgeous blossom-lined driveway and after all the really windy weather we had been having we weren't even sure there would blossoms left on the trees. But as luck would have it the blossoms were still there and the tuis dived in and out of the branches chasing each other in the branches above us. It was so beautiful and being semi-rural their singing was the only thing we heard.
Fast forward a couple of months and I got the meet Aurora at her newborn session.
Such a sweet little girl who had kept her mum and dad awake all night - I told them with a smile, that it probably mean't we would have a sleepy newborn session, and we did.
We planned on following the spring colour theme through in Aurora's Newborn session and the colours suited her skin tone so perfectly. We used soft aquas ( a real favourite of mine) and a soft shade of lemon.
